THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ANXIOUS
A COMING OF MIDDLE-AGE COMEDY
Anxiety. There’s a thing we can all relate to. Hal’s breathtakingly honest, often hilarious look at himself — and the state of his mental health as it pertains to grief, shame, sexuality (don’t ASK, he’ll TELL), religion (OY!), and career (Hal writes for Hollywood, that most equitable and non-triggering of places) — is spot-on to our moment; to the times we’re living in.
The Importance of Being Anxious reflects Hal’s life back to us, warts ’n all, with humour and heart.
And lots of gay sex.
DREAMATORIUM developed, produced and premiered The Importance of Being Anxious at the 2022 Camden Fringe and the EAT’s New Work Series at TADA! theatre in New York City.
The show went on to perform at NYC Fringe and Hollywood Fringe, where it received an Encore Producers’ Award.
